Accountabilities:
- Personally underwrite and structure large-ticket commercial credit transactions, including exposures of $1M+ and transactions reaching approximately $2.5M.

- Structure transactions to appropriately manage risk through payment structures, amortization, exposure periods, guaranties, vendor recourse, and other credit enhancements.
- Prepare clear, well-supported credit memos and present recommendations to Credit Committee, defending decisions and responding to questions or challenges.
- Hold delegated credit authority for qualifying transactions and serve as a senior escalation point for analysts, Sales, and vendor partners, providing timely decisions and documented rationale.
- Establish and maintain disciplined exception-management practices, including approval criteria, documentation standards, and exception monitoring.
- Develop and strengthen syndication and capital-markets readiness by establishing consistent credit memo standards, diligence packages, grading practices, eligibility criteria, and concentration controls.
- Collaborate with Capital Markets on representations, warranties, repurchase triggers, and the referral of transactions exceeding internal limits or involving restricted profiles.
- Develop new syndication relationships and support the placement, participation, or forward-flow of credit assets.
- Apply leasing expertise to assess transaction structures, including residual assumptions, FMV and $1-out structures, capital and operating treatment, soft-cost limits, deferrals, guarantees, UCC filings, and collateral perfection.
- Support cross-border credit structures across applicable international markets, currencies, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Co-own credit policy with senior Risk leadership, including rating tiers, exposure limits, feature eligibility, and approval authorities.
- Monitor portfolio performance through watch lists, delinquency and loss trends, and concentration by vendor, industry, and buyer.
- Evaluate the balance between credit losses and automated approval rates to support sustainable portfolio growth.
- Partner with technology teams on automated decisioning, including Taktile rules, bureau data, scorecard calibration, and manual-review workflows.
- Determine where human credit judgment adds value versus where automated rules can improve consistency and efficiency.
- Use data and portfolio analysis to inform credit decisions and policy recommendations.
- Coach and calibrate first- and second-line underwriters, lead credit calibration sessions, and strengthen the quality and independence of the broader credit team.
- 6–12+ years of commercial credit experience in equipment leasing, vendor or captive finance, specialty finance, bank ABL, middle-market lending, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience personally underwriting and signing large-ticket commercial credit transactions, including single-obligor exposures of $1M+ and comfort operating around the $2.5M level.
- Strong, practical leasing experience covering lease structures, residual values, lessor economics, documentation, and transaction risk.
- Experience buying or selling paper, managing participations, forward-flow arrangements, or otherwise working directly with syndicated credit.
- Previous delegated credit authority and demonstrated ability to make timely, independent decisions under commercial pressure.
- Strong credit judgment when working with incomplete or imperfect information, including private companies, unaudited financials, limited bureau data, and international accounting standards.
- Excellent credit-writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, well-sourced memos suitable for both internal committees and external credit partners.
- An AI-first mindset, using AI tools to improve productivity, analysis, and decision-making while maintaining sound credit judgment.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to challenge assumptions constructively, communicate decisions clearly, and work effectively with Sales, Risk, Capital Markets, and other stakeholders.
- High level of autonomy, ownership, and comfort operating in an environment where processes and standards are still being developed.
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional and multi-currency underwriting, particularly across the UK, EU, Canada, or Australia, is preferred.
- Formal banking or leasing credit training, CFA, CPA, or equivalent financial expertise is a plus.
- Experience in a high-growth environment where you have built credit processes while simultaneously operating them is valued.
- SQL or business intelligence experience and the ability to independently analyze portfolio data are advantageous.
- Exposure to automated decisioning platforms, scorecard governance, SaaS, hardware, mixed-ticket financing, or captive finance is beneficial.
- A fintech background is not required; deep commercial credit expertise is the priority.
- Competitive compensation package aligned with the seniority and scope of the role.
- High-autonomy environment with a direct voice in important credit decisions.
- Opportunity to shape credit policy, underwriting standards, automation, and portfolio strategy as the business scales.
- Meaningful exposure to large-ticket financing, leasing, syndication, and capital-markets activity.
- Opportunity to build and mentor a growing credit organization.
- Fast-moving environment with a short distance between analysis and decision-making.
- Inclusive workplace committed to equal employment opportunity and diversity.
