The Role
We are searching for a highly experienced and business-minded Director, Payments Legal to serve as the company's primary subject matter expert on payments and fintech legal matters. This role will lead legal support for our global payments ecosystem and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, Finance, and Partnerships to design, build, and scale compliant payment solutions across the globe.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, operates with a high degree of autonomy, and is comfortable owning complex, cross-border payments and regulatory challenges end-to-end.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead legal advisor and strategic partner to our Payments, Engineering, Risk, and Product teams, influencing product development, new payment methods, and global expansion while enabling compliant innovation
- Advise on U.S. and global regulatory frameworks, including money transmission, AML/BSA, sanctions, card network rules, and PSD2/e-money regulations
