About the role
Accountabilities
- Develop and execute the investor relations strategy, including engagement planning, proactive investor outreach, content development, and relationship tracking.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for current and prospective investors, equity analysts, relevant media, and other external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain investor-facing materials, including presentations, fact sheets, financing announcements, press releases, Q&A documents, and corporate communications.
- Manage public-facing communication channels, including the corporate website and social platforms, ensuring messaging is accurate, timely, consistent, and compliant.
- Coordinate investor and analyst engagement through conferences, non-deal roadshows, industry events, and other strategic forums.
- Lead messaging around key corporate milestones, including clinical data readouts, regulatory developments, financings, grants, partnerships, and commercial progress.
- Monitor investor sentiment, market developments, competitive activity, sector trends, and peer communications to inform leadership decisions and external positioning.
- Manage relationships with external investor relations and public relations agencies, ensuring effective execution, visibility, and crisis-response support.
- Prepare executives for investor meetings, media interactions, conferences, and speaking engagements through tailored briefings, messaging, and coaching.
- Establish a consistent investor communications cadence, including recurring updates, Board-related communications, quarterly reporting, and ad hoc news flow.
- Translate internal business and scientific developments into compelling investor-facing narratives while maintaining accuracy and strategic consistency.
- Partner with Clinical, Regulatory, CMC, Legal, Finance, and other functions to ensure external communications meet technical, financial, legal, and compliance requirements.
- Support internal communications and collaborate across corporate functions to maintain alignment between internal messaging and external positioning.
- Contribute to Board materials, corporate reporting, strategic communications, and investor engagement initiatives.
- Support the organization's presence at scientific conferences, trade shows, and investor events, helping strengthen pre-commercial positioning as programs advance.
- 8–12 years of experience in investor relations, corporate communications, strategic finance, or related functions within biotech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, orthopedic, or life sciences organizations.
- Proven experience developing and executing investor relations strategies and managing relationships with buy-side and sell-side stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading investor communications within a pre-commercial or early-commercial life sciences company.
- Deep understanding of the biotech and life sciences landscape, including capital markets, development milestones, clinical communications, and regulatory considerations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific, clinical, and financial information into clear and compelling narratives.
- Strong understanding of how investor communications can support corporate positioning, fundraising, strategic partnerships, and long-term value creation.
- Experience coordinating closely with Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, Finance, and other functions to produce accurate and compliant external communications.
- Strong organizational and project-management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives and tight deadlines.
- Excellent independent judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive corporate information.
- Confidence serving as a public-facing representative at investor meetings, conferences, media engagements, and industry events.
- Bachelor's degree required; an MBA, MS, or equivalent advanced degree in life sciences, finance, communications, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
- Experience with corporate websites, social media, and cross-channel communications supporting investor and reputational objectives is advantageous.
- Familiarity with SEC regulations and disclosure practices relevant to private and public biotech organizations is preferred.
- Experience managing PR/IR agencies and external communications campaigns is desirable.
- Financial analysis or capital markets experience, including the ability to interpret market sentiment and peer performance, is a plus.
- Experience with crossover financing rounds, IPO positioning, or strategic partnerships is advantageous.
- Orthopedic or MedTech industry experience is particularly valuable.
