About the role

About Jungle Scout

We're on a mission to build the best Amazon competitive intelligence tools for sellers and brands worldwide.

The Role

We're looking for a Data Scientist to join our team and help leverage large-scale data to drive growth for businesses on Amazon. You'll develop new data science areas of our product from conception through to scaling in production, working closely with our engineering team to apply expertise in data analysis and machine learning to create solutions that deliver actionable insights to our customers.

You'll have the ability to influence the direction of the product while working on an area that's at the core of our business — one our customers depend on to run their own businesses successfully. You'll also be supported by a dedicated team of ML Engineering/Ops experts.

What You'll Do

  • Build real-time machine learning models utilizing very large datasets to deliver scalable solutions to customer problems
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and designers to build and iterate on data-driven features
  • Drive data exploration and experimentation to identify new product opportunities using Amazon and e-commerce behavioral data
  • Design and run experiments to evaluate the impact of optimizations and communicate results to stakeholders
  • Establish scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large-scale data analysis, model development, and inference
  • Build scalable pipelines using Python, SQL, and AWS to operationalize insights
  • Define metrics, create dashboards, and monitor model performance in production
  • Champion best practices in model development, testing, and monitoring
  • Write production-ready code

What You Bring

Must-Have

  • Experience conceptualizing, building, and deploying algorithms and models to production alongside machine learning engineers
  • Strong machine learning best practices with a solid statistical background
  • Technical proficiency in Python
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • A strong command of SQL
  • Experience translating customer needs into data problems
  • Experience presenting clear analysis and conclusions to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Deep curiosity about data and the Amazon domain
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity, making tradeoffs, and adjusting plans as you learn
  • Experience working in the software development lifecycle using version control, CI/CD, and multiple environments

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with Spark, SageMaker, S3
  • Experience with other AWS services like EC2, CloudWatch, Athena, Postgres, Docker
  • Proficiency in Jupyter notebooks

Key Principles We Look For

  • #decide — you make sound decisions with the information available
  • #scrappy — you find creative ways to move fast with limited resources
  • #clarity — you communicate with precision and purpose

Our Team Culture

We're a remote-first team that thrives in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment, constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible with data and technology. We value flexibility, collaboration, and the drive to solve complex problems. We embrace constraints and the creativity they foster — scrappy by nature with a strong bias toward regular deployments to production.
