We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our community and contribute to an innovative research intelligence platform that helps organisations identify scientific expertise, emerging innovations and valuable collaboration opportunities. You’ll work in a high-impact technology environment where data is at the very core of the product. The platform brings together information from a wide variety of research-related sources to create accurate and connected profiles of researchers, research groups, companies and academic organisations.

With datasets reaching more than 100 million documents and over one billion relationships, this is an opportunity to solve meaningful engineering challenges at serious scale. You’ll have the freedom to take ownership, introduce new ideas and help shape the next generation of the data platform.

The working setup is flexible, with the possibility to work remotely and connect with the team at the office in the Ghent area whenever needed or desired.

Your responsibilities will include;

• Taking ownership of the further development and scalability of the data pipelines
• Facilitating the integration and continuous updating of data from a wide variety of sources
• Working with sources that differ significantly in structure, volume, quality, relevance and collection method
• Building and streamlining workflows that transform raw, unstructured data into accurate and structured information
• Developing LLM-powered toolchains for information extraction and data enrichment
• Building tools to automate and streamline internal data processes
• Developing scalable solutions for capturing and processing web data
• Creating quality assurance and monitoring tools for key data metrics
• Building tools that generate customer-specific insights and reports.
