Counsel Business & Legal Affairs

About the Role

MLB Network seeks a Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs with strong knowledge and understanding of legal and business issues related to media/production. The ideal candidate is a business-minded and technology-focused attorney supporting media production operations while handling technology, SaaS, and digital infrastructure transactions across the organization.

Key Qualifications

• Strong experience in media/production environments
• Substantial expertise in SaaS, cloud, software development, and technology licensing agreements
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills
• Solid understanding of business issues

Responsibilities

Technology & Commercial Agreements:

• Draft, review and negotiate SaaS agreements, cloud services agreements, software development and licensing agreements
• Handle master services agreements, statements of work, technology integration, data processing and information security agreements

Business Operations & Content Production:

• Draft, review and negotiate services agreements in support of business operations
• Handle studio and remote production operations, transmission-related agreements, and event-related agreements
• Manage content acquisition, licensing, distribution, and certain talent/services agreements
• Handle work-for-hire and independent contractor agreements

Advisory & Strategy:

• Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, AI/automation tools, IP ownership, and open-source use
• Manage risk allocation in technology transactions
• Partner cross-functionally with production technology, engineering, IT, product, procurement and finance teams
• Develop and maintain contract templates and playbooks to streamline technology and other contracting processes
