Controls Design Engineer - BMS - Data Center

Job Description

As a Controls Design Engineer - BMS, you will be joining a growing team of Electrical and Control System Engineers, Control System Integration Engineers, and Technicians. This position is responsible for designing instrumentation and control systems for Data Centers. Projects range from high-level conceptual designs to detailed site designs and retrofits, factory witness testing of equipment, and construction administration and verification. This role will communicate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines, teams, subconsultants, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure Data Center Building Management Systems (BMS) are properly designed and constructed. You will be responsible for managing assigned tasks including BMS system design, specifications, and drawings. Occasional travel to project sites may be required for meetings, data collection, and construction support.

Primary responsibilities:

• Lead the selection and specification of:
• Process instrumentation
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) equipment or (DDC) Direct Digital Controls
• Develop and approve control system (BMS) sequences of operations
• Manage assigned BMS design tasks including scope, schedule, and quality
• Perform technical review and approval of instrumentation and control system deliverables
• Review submittals, conduct field inspections, and verify compliance with design intent
• Independently analyze and resolve complex technical problems within the engineer's discipline
• Act as technical lead, supervisor, and resource to the design team
• Train, mentor, and support the education and professional development of staff
• Participate in the preparation, review, and approval of RFP response content and pricing
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, organization, flexibility, and collaboration
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Travel to project site visits as needed, roughly 15-35%
