About the role
Career Opportunity: CACFP Program Specialist with Children’s Hunger Alliance in Northwest Ohio
Remote role with frequent travel throughout Northwest Ohio, required.
Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) is seeking a CACFP Program Specialist to support and expand the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) across Northwest Ohio. In this role, you will work closely with childcare centers and in-home providers to deliver training, ensure compliance, and provide ongoing support that helps children access nutritious meals.
As the CACFP Program Specialist, you will:
- Recruit and train childcare centers and family childcare providers participating in CACFP
- Conduct on-site monitoring reviews and in-home provider visits
- Provide technical assistance and customer support to ensure program compliance
- Review and process required documentation, including monthly claims and disallowances
- Train providers and staff on systems such as Minute Menu
- Conduct outreach activities and increase community awareness of CACFP
- Maintain organized electronic files and required documentation for each provider
- Build and maintain community partnerships to expand program reach and resources
- Stay current on USDA, ODE, and CHA regulations and requirements
- Prepare and submit accurate weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly reports
- Support the development of program materials, training resources, and educational tools
- Participate in regional, state, and team meetings
- Follow Ohio laws related to reporting suspected child abuse or neglect
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree in Nutrition, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field; or 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with structured childcare programs and training preferred
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and ability to travel frequently within Northwest Ohio
- Knowledge of USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations
- Understanding of child nutrition, child development, and early childhood education
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and communities
- Proficiency using computers, email, internet, and relevant software systems
- Positive, resilient, and adaptable mindset
