About the role

Accountabilities

    • Conduct market, industry, and competitive research to identify software businesses in the payments and related verticals that align with defined acquisition criteria and investment metrics.
    • Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified acquisition prospects across Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, with particular focus on Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Greece.
    • Identify and engage business owners, founders, shareholders, and senior executives to introduce acquisition opportunities and establish trusted long-term relationships.
    • Manage outbound business development activities, including cold outreach, prospecting, introductory calls, follow-ups, and presentations of the organization's value proposition.
    • Nurture early-stage leads and prospects through the business development process, ensuring promising relationships are consistently developed and progressed.
    • Expand the deal pipeline through industry conferences, regional trade shows, networking events, broker road shows, and other relevant business development channels.
    • Maintain accurate prospect, relationship, activity, and pipeline information within Salesforce or the relevant CRM system.
    • Track deal funnel performance and provide clear reporting on pipeline development, prospect activity, and emerging opportunities.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop new prospecting strategies and initiatives that support accelerated growth across the target markets.
    • Identify trends, market developments, and potential acquisition opportunities that could strengthen the regional investment strategy.
    • Represent the organization professionally when engaging with prospective acquisition targets, industry contacts, intermediaries, and other external stakeholders.
    • Handle commercially sensitive information and senior-level relationships with discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
    • Requirements:

      • 2+ years of professional experience in sales, business development, lead generation, or a related commercial role, ideally with exposure to Central and Eastern European or Balkan markets.
      • Demonstrated success with cold calling, outbound prospecting, relationship development, and structured sales or business development processes.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage founders, business owners, shareholders, and senior executives.
      • Experience developing and nurturing long-term business relationships rather than focusing solely on transactional sales.
      • Highly self-motivated and organized, with the ability to plan your own activity, manage priorities, and consistently work toward measurable performance goals.
      • Strong time-management and multitasking abilities, particularly when managing multiple prospects, markets, and ongoing conversations simultaneously.
      • Positive, entrepreneurial attitude with a strong drive for results and the resilience required for proactive outbound business development.
      • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism, particularly when handling confidential business information and sensitive acquisition discussions.
      • Strong understanding of B2B software businesses is an advantage.
      • Knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with software business metrics is a plus.
      • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform is desirable.
      • A degree in business administration, business, finance, or a related discipline is an asset, though equivalent professional experience is also relevant.
      • Previous B2B software industry experience is advantageous.
      • Fluent English plus at least one key regional language such as Romanian, Hungarian, Czech, Serbian, Croatian, Bulgarian, or Greek is required.
      • Additional European language skills are a plus.
      • Comfortable working independently in a geographically diverse, international business environment.
      • Benefits:

        • Full-time, regular position with a 37.5-hour working week.
        • Opportunity to work in an international software environment with exposure to senior executives, founders, investors, and business owners across multiple European markets.
        • Significant autonomy and ownership over regional business development activities and acquisition pipeline growth.
        • Direct exposure to acquisition strategy and the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding software portfolio.
        • Opportunity to build expertise across software, payments, mergers and acquisitions, and the Central and Eastern European and Balkan technology ecosystems.
        • Career development opportunities within a large and growing global software organization.
        • International working environment with opportunities to expand your professional network across Europe.
        • Role with direct visibility to senior leadership and the potential to make a measurable contribution to regional growth.
        • Supportive environment for ambitious professionals looking to develop a long-term career in business development, software, or M&A.
