Backend Engineer - Personalization

The Personalization team makes deciding what to play next easier and more enjoyable for every listener. Join the Surfaces squad within Spotify's Personalization mission, focused on the Now Playing View (NPV), one of the most visible and high-impact surfaces in the Spotify experience. This newly formed team works at the intersection of backend engineering and machine learning, building systems that power real-time recommendations and content discovery for hundreds of millions of listeners.

What You'll Do

• Own the backend systems that rank and serve personalized content to hundreds of millions of Spotify users on the Now Playing View
• Work in an AI-native development workflow to implement backend changes across services and ensure architectural coherence
• Integrate with ML serving infrastructure and collaborate with ML engineers to bring models from training to production within tight latency constraints
• Make product-informed backend decisions to understand why features matter to users and connect system design choices to user engagement and discovery
