About the role
Accountabilities:
- Lead and execute the Scientific Communications strategy within Medical Affairs, developing scalable processes and capabilities that support launch readiness and long-term growth.
- Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to align scientific communications with broader organizational priorities and strategic objectives.
- Identify and implement innovative approaches that improve the clarity, quality, consistency, and impact of scientific communications.
- Manage external vendors and collaborate with external scientific experts and thought leaders to support key communications initiatives.
- Lead publication planning and execution, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations, while ensuring appropriate governance, compliance, timelines, and cross-functional alignment.
- Monitor publication plans, proactively identify risks and dependencies, and coordinate with internal subject matter experts, Clinical Development, and external authors.
- Lead scientific planning for major medical congresses, coordinating abstracts, posters, presentations, and related communications with broader publication and Medical Affairs strategies.
- Develop and maintain scientific slide decks, FAQs, educational resources, advisory board materials, presentations, and other communications that support scientific exchange.
- Translate complex clinical and scientific data into accurate, compelling, and audience-appropriate communications for diverse scientific stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Field Medical and other cross-functional teams to ensure consistent and effective dissemination of scientific evidence.
- Own and continuously enhance scientific communication platforms for key therapeutic areas, ensuring emerging evidence is accurately incorporated into core Medical Affairs materials.
- Drive continuous improvement across publication planning, congress planning, scientific communication processes, and content stewardship.
- Advanced scientific degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, PsyD, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, Publications, or a related function within the biopharmaceutical industry or a scientific/medical communications agency.
- Demonstrated experience leading publication planning and execution, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and scientific presentations.
- Experience developing and supporting scientific communications for major medical congresses.
- Exceptional scientific writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, engaging, and scientifically rigorous content.
- Prior leadership experience in Scientific Communications is strongly preferred, along with the ability to manage multiple complex priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in psychiatry, neuroscience, CNS, or another relevant therapeutic area is strongly preferred.
- Launch, pre-commercial, or launch-readiness experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Medical Affairs processes, scientific dissemination, publication planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across scientific, medical, operational, regulatory, and commercial functions.
- Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to navigate complex scientific and operational challenges.
- Highly collaborative and comfortable seeking diverse perspectives while confidently making decisions and moving initiatives forward.
- Base salary range of $210,000–$255,000 USD per year.
