About the role
Accountabilities:
- Define, validate, and continuously evolve the software architecture for a platform covering foundations, observability, data, and infrastructure.
- Evaluate and select technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns based on scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and usability.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and technical documentation covering platform components and their interactions.
- Establish and promote software architecture standards, design patterns, engineering practices, and technical guidelines across the squad.
- Manage the architectural backlog, including technical debt, improvements, risks, and evolutionary initiatives, aligning priorities with the team's roadmap.
- Take hands-on ownership of proofs of concept, technical design, architecture reviews, and code reviews to ensure implementation quality and architectural consistency.
- Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies to prevent issues during development and production.
- Support the technical growth of engineers by sharing knowledge, mentoring team members, and strengthening engineering practices.
- Research emerging technologies and approaches, recommending innovations that can improve platform capabilities and engineering efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate the technical vision, align expectations, and support strategic technology decisions.
- Solid experience as a Software Architect or Tech Lead working on complex, mission-critical technology projects.
- Strong expertise in .NET, microservices architecture, and production-grade API design.
- Extensive experience with AWS, including compute, networking, security, and managed cloud services.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/EKS and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CDK.
- Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and practical application of software architecture patterns.
- Advanced experience with observability for distributed systems, including structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and SLOs/SLIs.
- Experience with Oracle and large-scale data modeling.
- Professional experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka and/or RabbitMQ in high-volume transactional environments.
- Strong background in distributed, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on technical leadership approach, with the ability to contribute directly to design decisions, PoCs, architecture reviews, and code.
- Experience working in agile and multi-squad environments, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous experience with banking platforms, particularly lending or credit, or other regulated environments is a strong advantage.
- Experience modernizing legacy systems such as Sybase or VB6 and applying approaches such as Strangler Fig, Anti-Corruption Layer (ACL), and Change Data Capture (CDC) is desirable.
- Additional expertise in Oracle Exadata, AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, Clean/Hexagonal Architecture, CQRS, Event Sourcing, service mesh, API gateways, and cloud-native platform patterns is highly valued.
- Experience with highly available systems and large-scale transactional workloads is an advantage.
