- Drive specification of products and solutions into new customer designs while increasing share of existing designs and applications.
- Build and execute disciplined territory and account strategies, including purposeful account planning, time management, opportunity funnel management, and CRM utilization.
- Meet assigned targets for profitable sales growth and strategic objectives across the territory.
- Influence purchasing decisions at multiple levels of customer organizations by communicating technical value, business benefits, and return on investment.
- Educate OEMs, machine builders, distributors, and other stakeholders on product differentiation, applications, and value propositions.
- Guide customers toward customized solutions when standard products do not fully address their technical or application requirements.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with key distributor personnel to facilitate collaborative selling and expand indirect-channel opportunities.
- Develop and maintain Key Account Management Plans for strategically important customers and use CRM to coordinate actions, manage opportunities, and track progress.
- Proactively assess customer needs through ongoing engagement and QBR processes, identifying opportunities to expand relationships, improve customer outcomes, and generate new business.
- Partner with Customer Service, Application Engineering, Product Line Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and other internal teams to deliver effective customer solutions.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor, applying strong knowledge of motors, drives, controls, and related motion-control applications while engaging technical specialists when needed.
- Gather and communicate market intelligence, including industry developments, competitor activity, customer priorities, and demand for emerging product features and benefits.
- Collaborate with distribution and commercial teams on joint end-customer opportunities and coordinated sales strategies.
- Represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and channel partner events as required.
- Travel up to approximately 50% of the time throughout the assigned territory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
- At least 3 years of outside technical sales experience, preferably involving motion control, motors, drives, controls, automation, or related industrial technologies.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand technical products, applications, and customer requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to sell through consultative, ROI-focused, solution-oriented approaches rather than transactional selling alone.
- Experience developing OEM, machine-builder, distributor, or industrial customer relationships and influencing purchasing decisions across multiple organizational levels.
- Strong industry and application knowledge, with the ability to identify customer pain points and translate them into commercially viable technical solutions.
- Excellent account planning, territory management, opportunity management, and CRM skills.
- Strong relationship-building abilities, with a customer-first mindset and the ability to establish trust with both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different customer personas and audiences.
- Strong negotiation, conflict-resolution, and influencing skills, combined with sound business judgment and situational awareness.
- Ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization and collaborate across sales, engineering, product, manufacturing, and customer service functions.
- Self-directed, organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing priorities independently across a geographically dispersed territory.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Candidates may be subject to U.S. export-control restrictions and must meet applicable requirements to hold the position.
- Expected base salary of $110,000–$130,000, with final compensation influenced by location, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
