About the role
Accountabilities
- Analyze customer measurement, inspection, and quality requirements and translate them into effective CMM-based solutions.
- Develop inspection strategies for complex components and create, optimize, and validate measurement programs using MODUS, DMIS, or other relevant metrology tools.
- Conduct proof-of-concept studies and feasibility investigations to determine appropriate technical approaches.
- Troubleshoot customer measurement challenges, including programming, probing, fixturing, and measurement correlation issues.
- Support customers during equipment startup, implementation, and production ramp-up activities.
- Provide technical support to regional and district sales teams throughout the customer engagement and sales process.
- Assist with technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer application evaluations.
- Help define project scope, implementation requirements, and technical information needed for quotations.
- Train customer personnel on CMM operation, MODUS programming, measurement strategies, and metrology best practices.
- Write and maintain metrology programs and support the identification and resolution of technical system issues.
- Travel extensively within the designated Midwestern U.S. region, with occasional domestic travel as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of engineering and mechanical principles, with the ability to apply them to real-world manufacturing and measurement challenges.
- Experience in manufacturing, quality control, metrology, or CMM operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Understanding of DMIS or other metrology programming languages is desirable.
- Experience with CAD/CAM in a manufacturing or quality-control environment is preferred.
- Programming experience with languages such as VB, Java, or C++ is an advantage.
- Previous exposure to machining or manufacturing environments, including internships, is beneficial.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, particularly when working with complex technical systems.
- Strong mathematical skills, including knowledge of trigonometry.
- Good IT aptitude and ability to work with technical software and applications.
- Ability to develop and write metrology programs effectively.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Good manual dexterity and the physical ability to install or work with equipment in a normal production environment.
- Must meet applicable eligibility requirements for access to ITAR-controlled data in accordance with U.S. export control regulations.
- Willingness and ability to travel significantly within the Midwest and occasionally elsewhere in the United States.
- Annual compensation of approximately $70,000–$85,000, depending on experience, position level, and geographic location.
