About the role
Accountabilities:
- Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and maintain the reliability and integrity of financial information.
- Participate in the monthly closing process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and period-end analysis.
- Analyze cost of goods, margins, and key financial performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports for leadership.
- Contribute to budgeting and financial forecasting processes, including variance analysis and performance monitoring.
- Produce financial reports and ad hoc analyses to support management decision-making.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls, and workflows to increase efficiency and quality.
- Manage the accounting component of SR&ED claims and prepare the required financial documentation.
- Support year-end activities and prepare documentation and information requested by external auditors.
- Collaborate effectively with finance and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and smooth financial operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or progress toward obtaining the CPA is considered an asset.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial control, or a related finance function.
- Solid understanding of the full accounting cycle, monthly closing procedures, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and variance analysis.
- Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, or an equivalent ERP system.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a growing environment.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to different stakeholders.
