Accountant

Accountabilities:

• • Month-end close and financial accounting: Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules, contribute to monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, and ensure financial information is accurate and delivered on schedule.
  • Balance sheet management: Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and unusual account activity, and ensure accounts are complete, accurate, and ready for review.
  • Business and operational support: Review customer billings, support project accounting and reporting, assist with payroll processing and reconciliations, and contribute to broader finance initiatives.
  • Cash flow and working capital: Perform cash and bank reconciliation reviews while monitoring accounts receivable and payable aging and proactively identifying at-risk balances.
  • Tax and statutory reporting: Prepare indirect tax filings and other required statutory reporting, with attention to accuracy and compliance.
  • Intercompany accounting: Support intercompany activities and collaborate with teams across the organization on accounting-related matters.
  • Process improvement: Identify recurring issues and process gaps, recommend improvements, and help implement controls and efficiencies that strengthen accuracy and shorten close timelines.
  • Analysis and problem-solving: Provide ad hoc financial analysis and investigate accounting issues to support decision-making and operational effectiveness.
  • Progressive ownership: Develop increasing responsibility over accounting activities, requiring less oversight over time while contributing to overall finance team performance.

  Requirements:

  • Accounting experience: 2–3 years of experience in general accounting, including month-end close, reconciliations, and broader accounting processes.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • ERP knowledge: Experience working with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is considered an asset.
  • Technical accounting knowledge: Exposure to indirect taxation and/or multi-entity accounting environments is an advantage.
  • Analytical skills: Strong attention to detail, sound problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to identify discrepancies and investigate their root causes.
  • Organization: Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high levels of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Autonomy: Comfortable working independently while knowing when to escalate issues and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Technology fluency: Comfortable using modern productivity tools and AI assistants such as Claude or Copilot to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Communication: Able to communicate clearly with finance and cross-functional stakeholders and contribute effectively to a collaborative team environment.
