About the role
Accountabilities
- Take ownership of a dedicated, high-value global manufacturing account, developing a comprehensive strategy for retention, expansion, and long-term growth.
- Serve as the primary commercial point of contact across multiple customer sites, business units, and regions, ensuring consistent service delivery and a unified account strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders including risk insurers, facilities leaders, EHS professionals, operations leaders, directors, and vice presidents.
- Develop strong working relationships with electrical contractors, general contractors, account executives, and other partners involved in onsite operations and construction bidding.
- Understand and actively manage existing service agreements, contract terms, service-level agreements, and renewal timelines, proactively addressing upcoming renewals.
- Lead and participate in strategic quarterly business reviews, presenting performance results, identifying emerging customer needs, and establishing forward-looking account growth plans.
- Educate customers on developments in fire alarm, mass notification, and life safety technologies and connect those developments to their operational requirements.
- Sell a comprehensive range of fire alarm integration services, maintenance programs, managed services, and transformational solutions.
- Identify expansion opportunities across the existing account footprint by engaging decision-makers, assessing needs, developing business cases, and establishing clear decision timelines.
- Build and maintain a pipeline equivalent to approximately 4:1 against the target revenue goal.
- Lead sales pursuit teams in developing competitive proposals that incorporate pricing, business cases, technical solutions, and clear differentiation.
- Present proposals to decision-makers, address objections related to timing, pricing, and competition, and guide negotiations toward timely go/no-go decisions.
- Collaborate with designers, estimators, sales engineers, subject matter experts, program and project managers, and external partners to develop winning solutions.
- Conduct onsite customer walkthroughs and engage directly with industrial and manufacturing environments as required.
- Proactively identify sales and service opportunities while adapting account strategies to changing business conditions.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service, responsiveness, professionalism, and results-oriented execution.
- At least 5 years of experience selling fire alarm, life safety, or related solutions, including demonstrated experience managing a dedicated or strategic account.
- Proven success selling fire alarm and life safety solutions from established specification-grade manufacturers.
- Demonstrated track record of retaining and expanding existing accounts while also developing new opportunities.
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Code, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and applicable International Building Code provisions.
- Ability to discuss code requirements credibly with authorities having jurisdiction, engineers, facility leaders, and EHS stakeholders and identify code-driven scope within proposals.
- Familiarity with electrical construction means and methods as they relate to fire alarm and life safety system installation.
- Experience collaborating with designers, estimators, electrical trades, contractors, and other technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing relationships across multiple sites, regions, or business units within a single enterprise customer.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is preferred.
- Comfortable conducting regular onsite walkthroughs within industrial and manufacturing facilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a consultative approach to identifying and addressing customer challenges.
- Ability to build trust and confidence with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels, including senior leadership.
- Strong business development skills with the ability to proactively source sales and service opportunities.
- Adaptable and able to influence others effectively in changing business environments.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, spreadsheets, and hosted project collaboration applications; Bluebeam experience is preferred.
- College degree, trade school education, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- NICET II certification is preferred, with demonstrated ability or a track record of progressing toward NICET III.
