Founders Classical Academy Online is dedicated to forming students who understand the intellectual, philosophical, and political foundations of Western civilization and the American republic.
Through the study of history and political thought, students gain an appreciation for the ideas, institutions, and events that have shaped human civilization.
Position Summary
The History Teacher will guide students through the study of human history with particular emphasis on Western civilization and the American founding. Instruction emphasizes narrative history, primary sources, and thoughtful inquiry into the philosophical and political ideas that shaped societies.
Students examine historical events, texts, and institutions in order to better understand the development of culture, government, and civic life. The teacher fosters historical understanding while encouraging thoughtful reflection on enduring questions about liberty, justice, and civic responsibility.
Instruction should combine narrative teaching, document analysis, and discussion in order to cultivate historical literacy and critical thinking.
Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.

Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous history instruction aligned with TEKS standards.
- Teach historical content using narrative instruction, primary sources, and discussion.
- Guide students in analyzing historical texts and documents.
- Facilitate discussions about historical ideas, political philosophy, and civic institutions.
- Assess student learning through essays, document analysis, projects, and exams.
- Provide meaningful feedback on written historical analysis.
- Maintain strong communication with students and families.
- Participate in faculty collaboration and curriculum development.
