About the Role
LastPass is looking for a Staff Kubernetes Engineer. As a Staff Kubernetes Engineer, you will have a strong focus on Kubernetes operations to design, build, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and following GitOps principles and tooling. You will orchestrate scalable containerized applications, streamline cluster operations while ensuring high availability through automated deployments and observability over our infrastructure.
About the Team
Our team sits at the core of LastPass's Platform Engineering cluster, delivering a streamlined platform that reduces complexity and speeds up delivery. We manage the company's entire Kubernetes environment, operating EKS clusters, overseeing container lifecycle and reliability, and providing developer tooling that enables teams to deploy and scale applications efficiently and securely.
Who will you work with?
You will be part of a dedicated team within LastPass, shaping future infrastructure, enabling seamless application delivery, and driving DevOps best practices across the organization. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will collaborate closely with architecture and security teams to ensure services remain secure, reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
What are some of the exciting challenges you will be working on?
- Own the architecture, design, and evolution of our Kubernetes-based platform on AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and operational excellence
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (CDK), enforcing best practices and architectural standards
- Act as the technical guide and domain expert for Kubernetes architecture, collaborating closely with the Architecture team to bridge high-level strategy with implementation and guide engineering teams with clear patterns, reference architectures, and best-practice recommendations
- Lead technical decision-making across multiple teams, providing mentorship, design reviews, and hands-on support to drive platform consistency and quality
- Drive proactive improvements across the platform, identifying scaling issues, reliability gaps, or operational inefficiencies before they become problems
- Design and implement secure, compliant, and highly observable Kubernetes environments, integrating monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
- Lead and support the migration of non-cloud-native applications to the new infrastructure, assessing readiness and implementing best practices for scalability and maintainability
- Champion automation and GitOps practices to reduce manual overhead and improve deployment velocity
