Solutions Engineering intern
About the role
About the Opportunity
Solutions Engineers at EnergyHub operate at the intersection of our client-facing, product, and technical teams, enabling solutions that sit between market demands and product capabilities. This is an opportunity to join a critically placed team between our Sales and Product organizations, contributing to a positive impact on our climate future. This is a three-month summer internship opportunity.
As a Solutions Engineering Intern, you'll take on real ownership of one of two high-impact projects designed to make our commercial operations faster, more transparent, and more scalable. You'll work directly with senior solutions engineers, commercial operations leaders, and cross-functional partners across Sales, Product, and Customer Support, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at how a leading climate-tech company turns distributed energy resources into virtual power plants.
Main Responsibilities: What you'll do
You'll own one of the following projects end-to-end, with mentorship and support from the Solutions Engineering team:
Contracts Project Management Overhaul
- Map our current contracting process from start to finish, identifying stakeholders, dependencies, and critical-path bottlenecks
- Design and configure a project management process to track and manage our contracts portfolio across the team
- Develop project plan templates, tracking dashboards, and visibility tools that eliminate the need for a purpose-built coordination role
- Drive measurable improvements in cycle time, visibility, and cross-functional efficiency
Across either project, you'll also:
- Collaborate with and receive mentorship from solutions engineers from a variety of backgrounds, gaining insights from their unique experiences and talents
- Work in an agile environment, deepening your understanding of how to translate cross-functional needs into excellent processes and tools
- Present your work and recommendations to commercial leadership at the end of the internship
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience: What you need
- First and foremost, you need to be curious and organized
- Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, an undergraduate or graduate program in business, engineering, operations, information systems, or a related field.
- Strong project management instincts and an ability to bring structure to ambiguous, cross-functional problems
- Comfort working with data and an interest in process design, automation, or commercial operations
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially when explaining your thinking to stakeholders with different backgrounds
Preferred Skills and Experience: Nice-to-haves
- Interest in climate, clean energy, or the energy transition
- Desire to learn more about how utilities intersect with load growth and the changing relationship between customers and energy
- Drive and dedication for quality and performance in everything you touch and a thirst for learning new techniques
- Some exposure to automation, scripting, or no-code/low-code tools (e.g., AI agents, Claude, SQL, Python, Jira automations)
- Familiarity with project management or workflow tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, monday.com, Smartsheet)
Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.
